Private Lessons

Scott Money is available for private lessons in drawing and digital illustration, and creative expression. Scott has a talent for making the complex simple. If you get stuck on something it only means that no one has provided you with a key peice of information. Anyone who can see (even just a little bit) and can make purposeful marks on paper or a computer can learn to draw. The first thing you need is the desire, the second is persistence, and the third is time. With good coaching you can accellerate your progress immensely.

Distance Ed: Not local to Guelph? If you have access to a computer with a scanner and an internet connection we can do lessons via phone or email. You can email me your images and I can coach you over the phone.

  • Learn to overcome creative blocks that keep you from enjoying your creative process, such as:
    • Blank page syndrome... how do you get started, what do you decide to create?
    • Resistance to aspects of art that frustrate or intimidate you.
    • Dissatisfaction with your results.
  • Learn the key foundational skills of perspective, composition, anatomy, intuitive physics, colour, special effects and visual communication.
  • Learn to tell stories in comics format. Let word and image create more than the sum of their parts.
  • Learn to paint your images in Adobe Photoshop using a Wacom Tablet.
    • How to choose and place colours.
    • How to use various brushes in Photoshop
    • How to create special effects such as motion blur, depth of feild, glare, lighting, etc.
  • Learn to use Adobe Illustrator
    • to make infinitely enlargeable logos and illustrations
    • to lay out text/graphic communication pieces like promo cards, ads, album covers, book covers.
    • to make custom lettering
  • Business for commercial illustration. Once you are creating work that people want you can start making money at it. find your niche and go for it. Your marketing doesn't have to be fancy or expensive. In fact, it could conceivably be free... assuming you have access to the internet and an easy way you can be reached. Whatever your style and interests are, there's probably a niche for it. All you have to do is find people in that niche you want to work with, give them what they want when they want it, and be pleasant to work with. Scott's happy to share resources that can help you get started with almost no overhead.

  • $5 discount per hour for booking 6 hours or more
