About Scott Mooney, Educational Illustrator

Why Scott

Imagine a world where everybody has the knowledge tools to be well, successful and positively engaged in the world. It would elevate the levels of wisdom and effectiveness at which our entire species operates.

Multiple Communicator Awards winner Scott Mooney is here to help teach and deliver those tools. He does that with illustrated storytelling, helping people share their gifts with the world, their organization, clients, loved ones, and anyone else who they aim to lift up.

How Scott can bring your ideas to life

  • Your message is primary. Scott’s adaptable skillset and range of illustration styles make him adept at finding the best approach for your message.

  • Large project? No problem. Scott has worked on projects involving many artists and can manage teams to get work done efficiently—on time and on budget.

  • Complexity is no roadblock. Infographics or motion graphics are perfect tools to break it down—and Scott brings creative, lateral thinking to the task. He is a fast learner, excels at research and can drill down to distill your message.

  • Even dark themes have silver linings. Humour is an effective tool in Scott’s toolbox that can shine light on even heavy subject matter, grabbing the viewers’ interest and keeping it long enough for them to grasp your message.

scott's Mission

To bring out the best in people by stimulating imaginations and catalyzing positive action, creating engagement and personal fulfillment.

Experience as an artist

Scott launched his illustration career in 1994, drawing cartoons and illustrations for publications of the Office of Research at the University of Guelph, where he also earned his honours B.A. Scott went on to work on the creative team at the safety communications company Creative Options for three years, and then moved on to a freelance career where he worked independently and led teams of artists to efficiently produce large numbers of high-quality illustrations on a tight schedule. Team projects included two graphic novels, a series of 260 illustrations for 3 publications by the Canadian Red Cross, and a series of eight whiteboard animations for the food security organization Feeding Nine Billion. Scott works in Guelph, Ontario, where he lives with his wife, Trina Koster, and their two dogs.
