Mighty Bubble - Campaign - A case study

How to get small children excited about frequent hand washing. Make them a bunch of fun illustrated stories and games about a super hero kid who vanquishes germ bad-guys using his superpower, which is soap! This campaign was hugely popular. The community it was made for was FlinFlon Manitoba/Saskatchewan.

We made comics, stickers, temporary tattoos, activity sheets, a song, a music video, a magnetic puzzle for the fridge, and a blog written by Mighty Bubble. They even had a mascot dressed in costume to appear at schools and in parades. I'm told the kids went nuts for it.

THE PROBLEM

Now more than ever, we know the importance of proper hand washing. But how do you get kids to do it? AECOM approached Scott to help develop a hand washing campaign for the community of Flin Flon, Manitoba and Creighton, Saskatchewan.

Our solution

Mighty Bubble the hand washing Superhero!

The original ask was a character on a "reminder" sticker for the bathroom mirror. But it occurred to Scott that if this character was going to come alive in the imaginations of kids, we were going to need a story, a fun rivalry in which washing your hands is the key to winning.

So, Scott pitched the idea of a series of mini-comics to set up this core story for the kids to play with and build upon with their own creative play.

The impact

The character and his story came alive in the minds of Flin Flon's children.

Mighty Bubble even had a blog, a song, and a music video.

The mascot character made appearances at schools and community events. He grew so popular in the community that kids would flock to the mascot, hug him and tell him they loved him!
